The top of the computer was not attached, so it could be easily lifted off and allowing easy access to the system motherboard and expansion slots. The most important feature of the Apple II was most likely its eight expansion slots, being that no other computer had this kind of flexibility or expansion possibilities at the time. The Apple II had the defining feature of being one of the first computer with a colour display, and a built-in BASIC programming language, thus making it ready to run as a purchaser was un-boxing it.
The Apple II was created to be small, convenient, and inexpensive thus making it very user friendly system and popular among other competitors such as Commodore PET 2001, and the TRS-80 Model I.
